Effortless Airplane Style: Cozy Meets Cool
A very Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you!
With Christmas around the corner, along with Winter travels, it seems timely that the US secretary of transportation emphasized dressing well to travel.
We’re hoping the countr leaves their jammies in the bedroom and puts their best foot forward to hit the skies.
Just because we’re “dressing to fly”, doesn’t mean we are uncomfortable in a fussy outfit.
Properly fitted clothes with quality natural fabrics and the cognizance of knowing your “pressure points” when flying (certain things you find uncomfortable or irritating), will lead you to a peaceful flight.
We’ve talked a lot about packing your suitcase or carryon here, but… not as much about WHAT to wear on the plane.
Here are a few pointers that have served clients and myself well:
Pack an extra pair of cozy socks to sneakily slip on after take off. I like traveling in a pair of mules so it’s an easy slip in if you have to get up to go to the bathroom.
Matching sets! These are so chic and elegant and you can get away more with being a little more relaxed in style. A monochromatic look can work just nicely, too.
A silk scarf tied around your purse can give just that little extra warmth you need. It’s not bulky ,it is practical plus you have an added splash of color to your look.
Focus on natural fabrics. These will wear well for cleaning and handling odors, too.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Wear something you’d normally wear on a day to day basis. Now is not the time to be daring with any fashion risks.
Go light on the make up and use blue light glasses (or your eyeglasses) for an accessory.
Use your layers to double as a head/neck rest. This could be a winter jacket or just a longer cardigan. It’s one less thing to pack, plus a pillow is one less item to bring.
Pack a Tide pen! With turbulence and neighbors getting in and out of seats, it’s so easy for things to spill (and you don’t want it to happen on the first day of your trip!).
Et voila! Hope these tips give you very safe and happy travels!
