Bon Voyage: Don't Forget These Tips For Packing Bliss

Well, here in Arizona, you can tell how many have fled for their vacations just by seeing the crowd at daily mass 😂. It is THAT time of year where people take a fun little adventure somewhere new or to see family.

If you’ve been here with the blog for the past 7 years - you must know, that one of my favorite things to do is pack, not just my suitcase
but my clients’! (And was one of my first posts ever!)

While planning my husband’s and mine suitcase, I’m looking back at my old packing posts and this is definitely how I still operate.

However, there is always more and more to learn and expound upon to make your packing and travelling simpler, fiscally smart, more enJOYable!

It’s a terrible folly, to spend money on a trip and be miserable because you either have the wrong shoes, are ill-prepared for the weather, or your pieces don’t make sense going from one activity to the next. Oh the disappointment!!!

In order to alleviate any chance of happening on your next trip or pilgrimage, let’s cover your bases.

Here are a few things to remember while packing, so your trip is even more wonderful than you could possibly imagine!!

  1. Weather: While you may think, “duh, Meghan
”, I take it a few steps further. A few months before, Google the monthly average of that city so you at least have a bit of an idea. Once you can get the specific monthly temps, like on AccuWeather, you’re doing well. BUT
as we know, the weather can change in a heartbeat - double check 2 days to be sure to be extra, extra sure for any last minute things like a rain jacket.

  2. Buy pieces that you know you will wear again and again: This is a big one. Sometimes we can imagine what we wear too outside the realm of practical. You’re already spending money on the trip so you want to add pieces that you’ll really enjoy wearing in your daily life.

  3. Be realistic which shoes are comfortable: This is major. If you’re feet aren’t comfortable and you’re dealing with blisters, back pain or sore feet - it’s hard to enjoy the moment! Give them a good test run before you go or if ones you already have, just a good wash.

  4. Choose the right luggage - walking a lot to different hotels on cobblestone? Opt for an ebag. Will it be unbearably hot? Attach a ventilation frame to your backpack!

  5. Be prepared spiritually and pack your Catholic travel Kit so you have all of your holy essentials.

  6. Don’t forget comfy loungewear for when you are relaxing. It’s easy to plan fun “outfits” but many hours are spent calmly, resting - so make sure you are prepped for that so you can get full rejuvenation.

  7. Know if you tend hot or cold and be super specific. It’s easy to say “oh I’ll be okay and offer it up” - however your family and friends don’t want you offering something that puts you in a cranky mood! 😂

  8. Choose accessories that are versatile. These don’t have to be major, or a lot. Just choose pieces that can work with all of your outfits and don’t carry too much weight. A simple stud or tennis bracelet goes a long way!

  9. Opt for a purse that will be theft-proof. A crossbody is such a great travel purse - it acts as a third arm and becomes part of your body.

  10. Go for natural fabrics like linen and cotton to avoid any unpleasant aromas. Some polyesters are fine but they are not all created equal. Which leaves me to my last point

  11. Give your outfits a practice run, sometimes you can discover things that make you wish you didn’t pack.

Question: What would be YOUR tip to add to this list? and
 where are you off?!!!
