It is summertiiiiiiiiiime and we still have a decent amount of this warm weather to get through - some love it and some… bare it.

Footwear is always a ‘hot’ topic for the Summer. You’re likely travelling, perhaps wearing longer dresses and skirts, flowier pants, Bermuda shorts or ready for a dip in the water. Trying to survive the heat and be chic puts a wrench into the look. It’s just vastly different from Fall to Spring when you’re foot is in your comfortable go-to’s.

On our way back to France this Summer, I decided not to take my espadrilles last minute (as my husband pointed out as we were leaving the door - we can easily get some there!).

Upon getting here, I tried to keep going without buying another pair of shoes and snagging those espadrilles. However, week after week, walking on cobblestone streets with tiny rocks flying into your feet, playing pétanque on a dusty dirt or making longer treks on your feet just don’t bode well for sandals and mules.

Last Sunday at mass I saw a few espadrilles and I was staring at them like someone on a diet stares at chocolate cake. I knew I just had to take the plunge.

I walked on over to the nearest store and grabbed a simple striped pair. Let me tell you - a sigh of shoe relief! Your feet stay cool, dry and you’re ready for all the day has to hold.

Yesterday, I had to have an appropriate shoe where I could ride my bike in the heat and still look polished for mass and these were perfection!

When you’re in the clencher deciding between a sneaker and a sandal and neither will do, it’s the perfect time to slip on… an espadrille!

While I know I’ve written about them year after year, there’s a reason - SO practical and can be SO chic!

Your whole foot is covered so your protected from anything unwanted you may be walking on with sidewalks.
