Furniture & Fashion: Le Cannage
The other evening, I had put a tote bag on the buffet table and before falling asleep realized… “oh my word, that looks like it’s part of the furniture”. (So, I felt a little less guilty leaving it not in its correct spot😂).
It made me think about the fabric/material. I see it so very often. It’s the chairs in our home, the shoes I’ve been wearing on repeat… and obviously my tote bag!
For as much as I see it, I had to look up the proper name - Cannage. It’s basically a specific way/pattern of weaving rattan. And while you’ll see it with the leather stitching in Dior, today’s post will focus on the Summer version made from soft straw (or what would resemble it).
There are a few major benefits of incorporating this Cannage into your wardrobe.
For shoes, it allows airflow, while still maintaining a super polished look. As someone married to the man all about airflow and ventilation - this gets first position as the benefit.😅
It’s lightweight. This makes it perfect for purses and tote bags. What you carry is heavy enough so there is no need to add the weight in leather!
It’s natural which makes it a neutral. You’ll get so much versatility because it works with a range a outfit options for different occasions.
