Button-Downs: Upping Your Style Is Easy

Can you believe Spring is NEXT week?! At least in the desert, Winter can never be long enough 😂🙏🏻.

But Spring has such fun moments. And many of them… to be dressed appropriately! It’s a moment for us to feel the shedding of our winter clothes and bring on some fresh new pieces.

While I DO love, indeed, a seasonal shift in my closet (and one I do majorly, bi-annualy)… there is an unsung hero I keep no matter WHAT the season.

The classic button-down.

Now, no joke, these literally stay in my closet because they are just SO wearable. Whether you’re putting a crew neck over it in the winter with your coat or wearing it loosely, front tucked into a linen skirt in the warmer weather - there really is a way to make it work all year around!

Even better, you feel like Ina Garten where you’re whipping up lunch or dinner!

Here are 5 ways to make your button down make it work the best for you:

  1. Easily use it to elevate jeans or shorts

  2. Contrast a tailored button down with softer fabrics in skirts like a pleated skirt, or a silk or charmeuse skirt.

  3. Be creative with how you form the collar, make it work for you.(adding a cardigan over the shoulders can also make a big difference!).

  4. Play with sizing, you don’t always have to buy your precise size - make the shirt work for you and not the other way around.

  5. Know your fabrics. What textile is going to serve you the best?

Question: Do you say button-UP or button-DOWN? 😂
