St. Valentine’s Day: The Sweetest Date Night Dresses

Welcome to February, the month of love and an abundance of everything pink, red, sweet and chocolate!

Okay, yes, this is a commercialized holiday, still there’s no harm in embracing it for the fun (and Catholic relevance) of it, especially during one of the coldest, gloomiest parts of the year when we can all use a little more zest and a sugar rush!

St. Valentine is most definitely a Saint we can still find meaning in today. According to Catholic.org, he’s the patron saint of love, young people and happy marriages. He was a bishop and an ardent evangelist, a fierce defender of the faith, to the point of being imprisoned by Emperor Claudius II (how many of us would be just as gutsy?!). He was an unstoppable force!

He is also worth celebrating as a patron of happy marriages. How could we not celebrate this joyous feast day!? Or its romantic evening…

Without further adieu… let’s get to the fashion! St. Valentine’s Day is  all about sweet things, and THAT includes date night dresses!

Now, sometimes it’s easy for women to get overwhelmed with shopping for something because they get stuck thinking they need a lot of options. So they get discouraged quickly. Instead, let’s just start with focusing in on ONE dress… a dress you know you’ll wear to your favorite restaurant and have a great time.

So, how do you find a wonderful date night dress? Here are some questions before you head to the stores (or websites).

1.  Where do we typically go for a date night and what’s the dress code? Perhaps it’s BBQ or perhaps it’s fine dining downtown. Envision the environment.

2. What shoes do you wear? Are you going for a stroll afterwards? (It’s always a bummer when you can’t walk very far because of your shoe choice and it spoils what you can or can’t do afterwards). Or, perhaps it’s straight back to the parking lot and, with not much walking involved (maybe) you can allow for heels?

3. What accessories do you own that you could wear to make this dress feel ‘different’ each time? It could be a statement necklace, neck scarf, artistic clutch, or a wrap!

4. Which dress silhouette do you feel best in? Perhaps your husband has commented on a particular dress that was lovely? What style will make you feel comfortable, not pulling or tugging to make sure it falls properly?

5.How can your dress be subtly special without feeling too ‘over-the-top’?

Here are a few ideas to inspire you (and maybe… one of these will be ‘The One’)
