Five Must-Haves to Say Hello, Summer

“Gosh, I have so enjoyed this and feel like you have helped me sooo much. I feel like you have helped me get my confidence back at a time I really needed it. I also feel like a gained a really cool, fashionable frien (90).png

Believe it or not, we are just ONE month away from Summer! Longer, sunny days, mealtimes on the terrace, and a little more time outside is just what’s in order!

Most of my clients tell me that Summer is the most difficult season for them to feel confident about choosing what to wear and when to wear it. And I get it, especially for those living in the South where it is H-O-T, it’s hard to look polished, stay cool (yet endure freezing air conditioning), and not over complicate your wardrobe.

I can get frazzled pretty easily so I like to keep things simple (especially when I travel). So I’ve been “engineering” my Summer wardrobe recently to give me 1. Ease for travel back to France, 2. Practicality for work trips, 3. Modesty for Mass and 4. Style for having fun on the weekends.

So I’m sharing with you my five best building blocks to a Summer wardrobe.

  1. Matching Sets: This looks so polished and, as two separate pieces, you can break the set apart to wear in other ways. These top/bottom sets aren’t very common now, so you will look SO chic and fashion forward. I find them elegant with a retro spin. It’s a simple, understated outfit that makes a big impact (and you can have lots of fun with accessorizing!)

  2. Blush Lighter Layer: I get it, Summer can be SO hot you can’t even think of long sleeves. But we all know that shops love to blast their air conditioning to coax us to stay longer (and buy a few more things). For this -- and the occasional cool summer night because we don’t want to fall back on our black cardigan from Winter, no, no, no --! keep it light and fresh with a blush outer layer. It’s sure to match that Summer outfit you already have on. Be prepared!

  3. Pastel Shorts/Cropped pants: Pastels are so IN this season and are such a refreshing hue for lifting out mood. These look perfect with whites, creams, greys and even navy and camel. It’s a fun way to add a splash of something different without going too “loco.”

  4. Midi Dress: Elegant, practical and chic! I love a Summer midi dress because you can wear it to Mass, dress it up for going out to dinner, or wear it with a simple sandal during the day. You don’t need many, just one or two dresses that you really like!

  5. Telos Art Shop: This is one of my favorite Catholic jewelers. Jessica curates such a tasteful selection. Especially in the Summer when you’re not wearing a lot of layers, an artful necklace is the perfect finishing touch to add a textural element and a beautiful way to show your Catholic faith (and let the grace stream through your Sacramental!!)!
