Style That Hugs You Back (No, Really!)
Perfect fashion harmony is when coziness meets cuteness. Having style doesn’t mean you have to be uncomfortable. Fashion doesn’t always have to equal pain! Are you with me on that?!
Speaking of this, especially during those brisk Fall mornings that lead to warmer sunshine later in the day -- what we need are layers that accommodate for this.
Enter… the vest!
Vests are fabulous and (as a personal stylist,) I actually spend a lot of time with people helping them find the right vest. It’s a very forgotten category of clothing, and given what an advantageous addition it can be to your wardrobe, that’s a tragedy!
Vests are fantastic because they not only regulate your temperature, they can also add that perfect touch of personal flair to your outfit. Vests are a great way to frame your outfit and, if you feel your Look is a little ‘flat,’ can lend a bit of added structure and layering.
There are many varieties of vests, which you can shop below. With oodles to choose from -- fur, gilet, leather, quilted, shearling, sweater, suede or trench -- there’s sure to be at least one to match your style.
Here are a few ways I like to wear the vest:
1.Perfect to pop over a monochromatic outfit- so simple!! No effort yet super chic.
2.Layer it under a coat - great for travelling because you don’t take up suitcase space and you keep another option for outerwear.
3.Take a neutral dress and add a vest and you’ll transform it into something new.
4.Try it over an outfit that could use an added, different texture. For example, if too much cotton reads blasé this will add that finishing touch. Texture is everything to an outfit!
5.Transform spring/summer button downs with a sweater vest for a cozier feel and fresher look.
