Let's talk Pool Wear: Coolotte!!!
Today is THE most exciting day in the last five years of this blog!
Why’s that???
Well, after living for the past year in Scottsdale, Arizona, where it is H-O-T… I spend a LOT of time in and at the pool! If I’m not IN the pool, I’m eating chips and salsa in the cabana.
But…
I began to get a bit dissatisfied with the typical one-piece swimsuit.
It had a bit too much spandex and not enough style, texture, and… coverage.
So, after watching fashion design reality shows on my flight home from Rome a couple of months ago, it came to me!
I just kept seeing this particular design in my head and thought - yep, that is IT!! So, I decided to resurrect my sewing machine and (as Tim Gunn might say) put my fashion design skills to use to “make it work.”
After sewing and sewing, tweaking the designs and playing with fabrics, I’ve been wearing it incessantly at the pool and IN the water.
Just because something is comfortable and modest, does not mean it has to sacrifice STYLE.
I call my swim bloomers the “Coolotte,” based on the French word, culotte, meaning divided skirt (oh, how I loved my culottes in parochial school!!).
Coolottes are made from 100% cotton and dry even quicker than that spandex one-piece swimsuit. There’s elastic on the thigh hem and waist hem - which not only makes them comfortable, but they wear really well in the water. You can also move the leg elastic higher or lower on the leg depending on the coverage you prefer. Also, when you walk out of the pool, they aren’t awkwardly suction-cupped to you but instead, hold their own shape and design.
And (of course), doesn’t a matching top make any outfit insanely CHIC?!
So I made a matching top and let me tell you, it really made a splash. Whether BBQing by the pool, or going in the water, you have a really feminine, really fun ensemble!
Coolotte sets come in two lengths, one shorter (appropriate for swimming) and one a couple of inches longer (still appropriate for swimming but with a little more versatility if you’re planning to do more).
A matching Coolotte set is the ultimate Look for playing on the beach before heading out to a restaurant terrace for the evening.
