Easter Dresses: Versatile, Feminine and FUN!

Can you believe we’re less than a month away from Easter? WOWZAH! With such a joyful season ahead I think it’s time to discuss… Easter dresses!

Now, I’m sure we all have the “vintage” family photos, with the girls perched up in their floral dresses topped with sunhats and the boys in their pastels and khaki.

But no matter what decade it is - there’s an effort on Easter to dress for the reason to the season!

I’ve met more than a few Catholic women who have felt compelled to do the ‘mad dash’ to Macy’s or Nordstrom, or have desperately ordered a few options online and were stuck with a dress that ‘would do’ rather than one they truly enjoyed wearing.

Telll me that is not a stressful situation? I don’t think the people around you want to feel your stress either, so let’s take a stab at solving the question of the right Easter dress, before it’s Palm Sunday.

Well, let’s get to it! Easter is a fabulous time to add a timeless, chic dress to your closet. It’s also going to be a little bit fancier than your average Mass dress, making it a PERFECT investment to also wear for other special occasions like weddings, Baptisms, Confirmations, and showers. But… let’s not lock ourselves in - with a little styling finesse, you can really stretch ALL of the occasions to wear your dress!

So when you hear “Easter Dress” it means this is the perfect time to add a fantastic special occasion dress to your wardrobe.

When choosing your perfect Easter dress, there’s a few things to keep in mind:

1.What shoes will I be wearing with this dress? It’s likely there will be a meal or party after Mass so you’ll be on your feet quite a bit. If this dress is for a wedding or party you’re going to want the dress to match a shoe that you will stay spry and comfy wearing for a significant amount of time.

2. What color do you want? For example, if you’re planning on using this dress as a wedding guest, you’re not going to want to go with white. But if you’ll be using the dress for some summer parties - white could be the perfect option! Also think, which colors you consistently feel good in, and works with your coloring as you may or may not tan.

3. What’s Spring/Summer like where you live? If it gets uhot or humid, make sure it’s not in a thick or heavy fabric.

4. Which silhouettes do you feel best in? In case you wiggle in weight, you’re going to want something that can allow for some flexibility and still make you feel your best.

5. Choose a dress that makes a timeless style statement while allowing room for  a slight pop of your own personality. You’re going to want it to be chic for years, so lean towards the classic and less trendy outlines.

6. Think about other occasions you could dress up or down this dress. Sometimes a casual (or dressy) shoe, along with the perfect jewelry or bag is enough to make it switch into a different mode! Coming up, we have a lot of bridal showers, weddings and first Communions - so make it count!

7. Where will you be travelling or going on pilgrimage? Coming up is a fantastic time to visit Lourdes, or maybe you’ll enjoy a quiet getaway in the countryside.
