For Every Season a Reason: Here are 7 Good Ones for Organizing Your Closet (Now)

“Gosh, I have so enjoyed this and feel like you have helped me sooo much. I feel like you have helped me get my confidence back at a time I really needed it. I also feel like a gained a really cool, fashionable fri - 2021-09-24T072824.821.png

This past weekend, the last weekend before Fall, I decided it was the perfect time to swap out my closet from its Summer to Fall clothes. This is something I SO very much enjoy doing, that I really have to hold myself back from doing it too early! But last weekend was the perfect, final weekend of this season so... I dove right in.

Part of swapping out your closet is that you should really enjoy it. Because don’t we all do things better when we’re enjoying ourselves?!

So… I rang a dear friend. She asked what I was up to and I responded that I was (obviously) doing my seasonal wardrobe shift. She said that she was sorry that I had to be doing that with my weekend.

To her absolute shock, I replied, Oh. My. Goodness. I LOVE doing this! It is literally an enjoyable hobby and a favorite pastime.

She was curious why (or how) I could love it so much. Rather than thinking of it as just a chore to get done, you can give it a positive take. You get to think about the new season, all the exciting things you’ll be doing, where you’ll be going, and who you’ll be seeing. It lets you feel organized about the season to come and everything on your agenda!

It’s also much easier to enjoy something if you know the fruits and benefits you’ll reap from it so... I’d like to convince you why you should seasonally transition your closet (and have fun doing it).

Let’s start:

  1. It allows you to see and remember everything in your closet. If clothes get stuffed away, or glanced over, maybe they’re just continually taking up space.

  2. It gives you a chance to try on each piece and confirm its fit and quality.

  3. It gives you time to think, is this really something that’s your style? How often do you wear it? Are you really going to use it next season?

  4. Color-gorizing” and categorizing clothing by type makes it much easier to get dressed in the morning and couldn’t we all use a few extra minutes to get ready at the beginning of the day?

  5. You can better see where the gaps in your closet are and what you’ll need to invest in adding in, to get the best use out of what you already have, rather than just impulsively buying (so you’ll actually be saving money!)

  6. Getting organized just plain old looks better. A tidy home is a happy home!

  7. Other people can benefit from what you’re not using anymore! You probably have some gems in your closet that may no longer feel right for you, but think how happy someone will be when they can wear it (and love it), thanks to your donation. God loves a cheerful giver!

I’m so curious to hear if you try this for yourself this season. I think you will really reap the benefits!
