Over the Top or Flop? Five Styling Hacks You’ll Love for Valentine’s Day

“Gosh, I have so enjoyed this and feel like you have helped me sooo much. I feel like you have helped me get my confidence back at a time I really needed it. I also feel like a gained a really cool, fashionable frien (78).png

It’s February!! The month of thinking pink, chocolates, prix fixe meals, Candlemas and … St. Valentine!!!

Is it overdone? Perhaps…

Can it get a little annoying? Maybe…

BUT…!

Come over to the side of the Valentine’s Day lovers. It’s going to be a LOT OF FUN!

I’ve always loved Valentine’s day. Growing up, my mom would have a heart balloon (with a treat attached) waiting as we walked out of our bedrooms on Valentine’s Day morning. And I think the biggest rule I broke in elementary school was hand addressing my Valentine’s day cards personally, knowing they wanted complete uniformity for efficiency’s sake.

But you know, I was never one while growing up for having dates or boyfriends (thank goodness!!), yet I still loved the holiday!

The first Valentine’s Day that I celebrated after getting married, my husband and I actually visited the RELIC of St. Valentine in Ireland, while we were there watching the Six Nations Rugby Tournament… go figure! It was SUCH a neat surprise!!!! I feel like it was a nice reward after the patience from all of my non-momentous Valentines Days in years previous.

Whether you have a fun date planned for Valentine’s Day or you’re spending it with your girl friends, or maybe even making it an ‘introvert night’ with just you and a good book at a cute cafe… there’s still reason to celebrate and feel great!

So… I have five styling tips to assure that your Valentine’s Day look is over the top (and not a flop)

  1. Don’t overdo accessories. Sometimes when we have to “dress up.” it’s easy to think overloading jewelry will put us in the dressy ballpark. However, this can make your Look chaotic and confused. If you want to make a statement with a piece of jewelry make sure it’s only ONE. For instance, if you have a statement necklace - go for very, very simple, small earrings. It’s less a crime to wear too little jewelry than too much.

  2. Choosing  your shoes. It’s easy to grab heels and think, ‘oh it’s date night, this is what you’re supposed to do.’ However, do those heels really go with your Look? Your personality? Where you’re on a date? Your husband”s outfit? On the other hand, make note to not just slide into those comfie sandals you go to all the time -- jazz it up a bit, show him that he’s special to you!

  3. The  LBD (Little Black Dress) is always a great look! It’s hard to mess up this classic. Go for timeless chic that will allow you a little more fun choosing your shoes, clutch and accessories. That way, everytime you wear this LBD it looks a little different.

  4. If not an LBD, try a fresh approach to a Mass, Baptism, party or shower dress you already feel pretty wearing!

  5. Make it “you”! What makes a date fun is when you are feeling the most like yourself and at your best. If you’re not sure what makes an outfit “you”. ask yourself, What do I like most about getting dressed? What does my husband compliment me on? What is the part of me I like the most? What vibe do I/my husband want to portray?”.

Here below are a few fun dresses that could work for YOUR Valentine’s Day!

Have a very fun and stylish Valentine’s Day!
