Puffs, Pleats & Polkas: Prep Your Spring Style with 3 Fun Trends!
Just because we’re all quarantined now, doesn’t mean we have to hang around the house in dull clothes.
I, along with many others, find that when I dress up a bit, I feel more prepared for the day and can get it started all the easier on the right foot (or shoe).
Lately, I’ve been finding myself wearing a lot of pinks and florals to brighten my day… and, I think it really works!
So, let’s touch on some Spring trends you can incorporate into your wardrobe. Now, of course I don't recommend being a slave to trends (that goes without saying!) but rather, use current trends as INSPIRATION for your wardrobe. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh silhouette, detail, or print to spark the imagination!
I’d like to cover three trends that can spark creativity f and still be worthwhile investments for your 2020 style. They have the spotlight on them now, but years from now, they will certainly remain chic style choices that you can wear again and again.
Puffs
Puff sleeves are everywhere! This feminine trend is an easy way to soften up a look like jeans and a t-shirt. Swap out the t-shirt for a puffed shoulder top instead and you’ve easily given a casual look a sweet and stylish vibe.
And you aren’t just confined to puffed t-shirts. You can try puffed sleeve dresses and jackets, as well!
Pleats
Is there anything more satisfying than pleats?! They never grow old! Try investing in a pleated skirt or, if you’re feeling bold, look for more unusual ways to wear it, perhaps through a pleated back on a blouse. This is a definitely chic and timeless way to go.
If you are a pear or straight body type, you can really go for dramatic puff sleeves!
Polka Dots
We’re in definite need of some light-hearted fun during these pandemic times, and polka dots are here to bring it! This upbeat, retro print is perfect on pretty much any garment, from skirts, dresses, and tops, to scarfs and even a clutch! Have a little fun with this one. Just be sure to contrast it with more staid, classic designs so it doesn’t come across as too juvenile a look.
I hope these trends add just the right ‘spring’ to your stylish step that we all need a little more of right now!
