A lovely woman wrote me this week and shared one of the MOST WONDERFUL stories about a saint I’ve ever heard. I just had to tell it to you.

This story is about St. Margaret of Scotland. And I learned we were destined to be friends.

St. Margaret was the queen of Scotland in the 11th century. During her reign, she was an entrepreneur when it came to fashion. She employed foreign merchants to bring her beautiful fabrics and new fashions from all over the world.

Her vision was to transform her Scottish people by clothing them in beautiful colors and ornamental details. She believed that the elegance and class would make her citizens feel like a new race.

What a wonderful dream, wouldn’t you agree?

St Margaret played a MAJOR role in Scotland’s fashion! She not only understood the importance of dressing well… but she also took ACTION.

How EXCITING is the Catholic Church!!! We have a Saint like her!

What I find VERY exciting is that she realized the power of fashion and elegance. She understood that what we wear is an expression of who were are on the inside. What we wear communicates who we are and what we believe. Fast forward today, and we know Scotland for its iconic patterns, colors, and textures. Scotland has its own fashion statement - just like Chanel, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Coach.

Additionally, we could say that the roots of Scottish fashion is CATHOLIC thanks to St Margaret. She understood elegance, modesty, and beauty which all glorify God.

In honor of St Margaret of Scotland, I propose we add a few plaid pieces to our wardrobe, to remind us of the deeper meaning behind what we wear… are you with me?! I hope so!!!!

I’ve pulled a few plaid pieces that have inspired me to create and curate a beautiful wardrobe You’ll see that each one communicates in a unique way the dignity which God has blessed us with us and the praise we must to give him.
