Sunnies: The How-To on This Go-To Accessory

For my personal style and taste, I’m not the biggest jewelry person. I stick to a few pieces that I really enjoy and wear them consistently.

However, when it comes to suuuuuuuuunglasses… Now THAT’S a different story!

I really think sunglasses are THE perfect accessory, combining practicality with style, polish and a dash of panaché that really can make or break an outfit. For instance, let’s say you have oversized sunnies but decide instead that you want to wear a hat that day. You’ll have to swap those sunnies for a smaller pair so as not to look like you’re in a “witness protection” program!

Or, let’s say you’re having  a bad hair day and opt for a slicked back bun. That’s the perfect time to pop on those oversized Jackie O sunnies.

Some people are shoe people. Some people are handbag people. Me? Well, I’m one of those “sunglasses people.” And if you’ve been a part of this blog for a while then you might be like, “Again, Meghan?”

And I’ll say… Yes, again

Because there’s so much to say! You can find your inspo from Old Hollywood, or learn how to curate your sunglass collection, or how to use sunglasses to change the vibe of your Look. And you know what? I STILL have more to say on this 😂

Here are seven things I like to consider when shopping for a  pair of sunnies:

  1. Your wardrobe. What colors do you wear a lot? What would compliment that? For instance, if you wear a lot of black, I’d shy away from black sunglasses and choose something more like a tortoiseshell to soften your overall look.

  2. Which colors work best with your coloring and hair? For example, if you have some redness in your face, you may want to lean away from the more orange/red tones (even in tortoiseshell brown).

  3. How often do you wear hats? Like I said earlier, if you wear hats often,  go for a smaller frame.

  4. Which sunglass styles do you already own? If you have mostly classic staples why not try something a little trendier, with a little ‘pop?’

  5. What’s your preferred lens color? Green is my favorite color to look through (and there’s some I really don’t enjoy) but that’s up to you and your preference!

  6. Does your wardrobe lend itself to being trendier or more classic? If it’s more of a classic style, modernize it this season with a more trendy pair of sunglasses (and vice versa).

  7. Which styles work well for your face shape? If you have a very angular shape, you can soften it with a round style. Or, if you have a rounder face, you can add structure with a modern, rectangular style.

Et voila! Speaking of… today is EXTRA special because I am also releasing a BRAND NEW COLLECTION of sunglasses in the Meghan Ashley Boutique!!! 🥳 As someone who has worn sunglasses for years by Prada, Chloe and Coach, I must confess that I enjoy this new collection just as much! I’ve narrowed it down to focus on a collection that represents quality, style, and very wearable sunnies that will bring as much joy to incorporate into your wardrobe as they do for me.

Here’s some inspiration pics for the collection:
