Hip, hip...Beret! 🥳

When getting ready to dash out of the house in the morning for Mass in the winter, there are three criteria I look for:

First, I need it to look  polished. That doesn’t mean it has to be dressed to the nine’s, but there has to be something about it that says, “I’m excited to be here!”

Secondly, it needs to be comfortable and warm and third (but not least) it has to be a quick look to pull together!

Perhaps these sound like a few of your criteria???

Well, if so, I have JUST the item for you… the beret!! While the beret has had a resurgence in the past few years, it's a classic piece you can use in your wardrobe forever.

You can draw the beret back all the way to the 17th century, where it was worn by shepherds in the Basque region of France (also, where Our Lady of Lourdes appeared). It went on to spread in popularity throughout the world and into your closets at home!

For years I’ve worn a beret and I can’t tell you HOW many times it’s bailed me out of an outfit situation. Here’s what’s to love about them:

  1. It’s a way to stay warm without having to take your hat off OR get too bundled up. If you go into an office or a nicer setting, it’s a discreet, feminine way to keep a hat on. Also, it’s perfect for Mass!

  2. In those hurried mornings on a bad hair day - WORRY NO MORE!! Toss your hair in a low bun and slap on that beret. Nobody knows your secret!

  3. It adds volume and a finishing touch to my Look. Many people look better with a hat, headband, volume in their hair and this is a quick and very flattering option.

  4. It will take an outfit from boring to chic. Jeans and a white blouse? Add the beret! A simple fit and flare dress? Add the beret!

  5. Wearing a beret just feels good 😂. It’s a way to keep a piece of history alive and strong. Women wore hats all the time until the late ‘50s/early ‘60s when this style choice fizzled out.

Since I’m such a fan of berets, I couldn’t help but make some design changes. I wanted to create something that had a bit of contrast, trendiness, and modernity.

The goal was to take something timeless and add a bit of fashion “oomph” to it, to look less like trying to imitate a French symbol and more of a thoughtful designed Look.

The berets below are soft and NOT scratchy – with JUST the right amount of puff! I hope you enjoy my latest idea and I can’t wait to send one to you!
