Bordeaux and its Sneaker Game
Let’s talk about one of the hottest topics I could be writing about - comfortable SHOES! We all want them, we all have that one pair we wish we could live in. Well, my travels in France this past week compelled me to address this very topic.
I was standing outside L’Entrecôte in Bordeaux – ready to devour a classic steak frites – when I realized that the woman in front of me (because there is a line every day for every meal) was a perfect example of pulling off a sneaker with an elevated look.
Bordeaux is a city that exudes elegance and offers the best of French lifestyle (with some amazing churches) and with that, obviously comes… the fashion!
The fashion there is polished, not overly done, embodying both practicality AND aesthetic. Yes, it CAN be done.
One of the most common remarks I hear from my Club members is that because they’re not ‘the right age,’ they don’t feel comfortable about styling with sneakers. But I am here to be that annoying little fashion sister and tell you that YES you can. All you need to do is try to find the right one.
Whether it’s a simpler, more understated version, or a very popular retro style (I’ve never seen so many retro New Balances in my life), you have a good chance of finding the right sneaker to fit the pieces in your wardrobe.
I brought pair of red New Balance sneakers with me to France and I felt totally appropriate dressed for different facets of my day.
Here’s a few of my easy ways to wear sneakers stylishly:
With a simple white dress (you can pop on a cream cardigan to transition it into Fall)
Try it with a classic oxford shirt and jeans.
Who doesn’t love a monochromatic white or black Look? Chic and polished
Don’t forget your wide leg trouser and a simple white cotton tee
Traveling with an LBD (Little Black Dress) is always a must and this is a look that will work great!
Here are a few varieties that I hope ‘sneak in’ the right range of choices to help you find the perfect pair!
