Monochromatic: A Fresh Springtime Look... Uncomplicated Not Overwhelming

After a long winter accustoming ourselves to a closet full of blacks, greys and camels… It can be quite the shock to the fashion system when the beautiful Spring unleashes its fresh colors.

Springtime is magnificent! Doesn’t it make you just want to run over the hills alive with soft grass and flowers like Julie Andrews (or is that just me)?

As beautiful as it is, sometimes it does complicate our wardrobes. So many colors to choose!

We’re inundated with pastels, bright pinks, ginghams, seersuckers, sky blues and lovely lavenders.

It’s okay if it makes you want to stop and think, How do I tastefully work with all of this color? How do I choose?

It’s like diving into a rainbow ball pit!

Well, for those moments when you’re stressed out by all that spring stimulus…

GO MONOCHROMATIC!

It’s a lovely and feminine way to wear the colors of Spring, without being chaotic.

Going monochromatic is also a very flattering look - it really elongates the body and gives off a chic, classy and polished vibe.

Here are a few tips for going monochromatic:

  1. Try it in pastel tones. This will be a softer look and it won’t be as bold (if that’s something you’re worried about).

  2. Pair it with a neutral shoe like a white sneaker, nude flat, or tan leather. This will also soften the look from feeling like “too much”.

  3. Play with different monochromatic shades. If you are choosing pink, try a ballerina pink,a rose blush and a light peony.

  4. Make sure it’s a color you enjoy! Let this color put you in a good mood! It’s not fun to wear something you feel uncomfortable in and doesn’t reflect or overwhelms your vibe.

  5. If you’re not sure if it matches, add a third shade! This will muddle the eye and deflect the emphasis on the other two colors. You can often toss a cardigan over your shoulders or a jacket to easily do this.
