High-Low Styling
We’re in that seasonal lull where a lot of us might be feeling bored with our Summer style. Most of us are more focussed on staying cool in this heat than having fun with our style.
So… I thought I’d help jazz up your style WITHOUT, yes… WITHOUT having to shop for anything new.
Let’s take a moment to talk about high-low styling. The art of mixing dressier pieces in your closet with more casual ones to create a balanced look.
It can be so easy to think we don’t have anything to wear, but sometimes we just have to create something out of pieces we’ve never worn together before. One of my favorite things to hear my clients say in excitement is, “Wow, I would have never thought to wear that!” I guarantee you that... if you were to walk into your closet right now, there’d be at least FIVE new outfits you could create using pieces you already own.
Besides getting more versatility from your pieces, you may find that by doing this, you’ll feel your outfits are more “you” because they offer more unique combinations.
An easy way to do this High-Low Styling, is by incorporating dressier accessories (fancy shoes, silk scarves, evening clutches) with a basic outfit like blue jeans and a white button down. However, that’s not the only way!
If you’re having a hard time thinking about what you could combine together, here are a few examples of high-low styling:
-Shimmery skirt with a relaxed, VNeck Tshirt
-Shorts with a nice, tailored blazer
-Toss on a colorful, silk scarf over a basic, white Tshirt
-Heels with light-washed, casual jeans
-A tailored pant with a simple, knit Tee
-Jeans and a white Tee with an evening-out, fancy clutch
-A figure-flattering dress with a classic, white sneaker
Of course I can’t leave you without some fun shopping suggestions! Here below are some dressy pieces that you can add to casual basics in your closet to create your own high-low style .
Hope you have some fun with your closet this week!
