Pentecost: Seeing Red for All the Right Reasons

“Gosh, I have so enjoyed this and feel like you have helped me sooo much. I feel like you have helped me get my confidence back at a time I really needed it. I also feel like a gained a really cool, fashionable frien (37).png

In just a few days, we will celebrate Pentecost!! Which leads me to think… Has it really been 50 days since Easter?! Yikes! (Pentecost comes from the Greek word for fiftieth, in case you were wondering.)

Pentecost is also a fabulous celebration of the Church! I mean, could you imagine being in the same room with the apostles and Mother Mary when, all  of a sudden, the Holy Spirit is blasting down from Heaven and literal TONGUES OF FIRE are appearing on the apostles heads?!?!

I mean…

WOW!!!

Aren’t we blessed to be Catholic?!

And as most of us know, this is a day when the Church is full of people wearing red. Now, you might think it’s corny, BUT… The Holy Spirit coming into a room of fisherman and tongues of fire appearing on their heads is a BIG DEAL. So… if we can wear red as just one more way to remember this, well why not?!?!

Let’s talk about the color red. Red can be a tricky color for people. So, here’s my advice:

When wearing red, there are TWO key questions:

  1. Am I a cool red or a warm red?

  2. Can my personality keep up with a bright bold red? Or should I try to wear red in smaller doses and in more strategically styled places?

What is a “warm red” vs. a “cool red”... and why does it matter?

A warm red has yellow or amber (ie, “warm”) undertones. These reds appear more on the orange/coral side of the red spectrum.

A cool red has blue (ie, “cool”) undertones. Such reds look more magenta or rose.

So, as long as you take into account if your skin tone is best flattered by a warm or cool red, and how  comfortable you feel wearing it, you are all set to go! And of course I couldn’t leave you without some suggestions.  Who knew “seeing red” would be such fun?!

Happy Pentecost, ladies!!
