Let’s take a moment to highlight this feminine, chic option… The trouser short!

The trouser short is SUCH a great piece to incorporate this season. Since it’s trending, you’ll be seeing a lot of it - on the streets AND in a variety of colors and patterns to buy in stores. If you’ve ever felt that normal shorts make you feel frumpy and androgynous, this could very well be your answer.

A trouser short represents, obviously, a trouser pant. Hence, you’ll find a small pleat or two, which I think really makes this type of short more feminine and so much more flattering. 

Especially for those going on trips to places like Europe. If there’s not going to be AC everywhere and you’ll be doing a lot of walking, then this is a great style for you to try.

I recommend a trouser short in a cotton or linen-blend. I’ve been wearing mine here on the Côte d’Azur and these are summer fabrics that just work really well. I’ll wear them casually to walk around town but they can also be elevated with a nicer flat and pretty sweater for the evening.

Here’s a few ways to style the trouser short:

1. Over a swimsuit as a cover up. Especially in cotton or linen, because it will dry super quickly (in case your swimsuit is a bit wet).

2. Add timeless chic with an oversized white button-down shirt. It oozes easy-breezy but adds a little polish. Just remember, since the button down is oversized you’ll want a front tuck into your waistband to add a little definition.

3. Paired with a long-sleeved blouse and ballet flat for an evening dinner out.

4. Make them your “go-to” short to wear with a simple cotton tee and a sneaker.

5. Jazz it up a little more and pair them with a blazer for a fun, brunch look.
