Refresh Your Closet (and Fall in Love Again)

Happy Candlemas! Can you believe Christmas and the New Year have come and gone, and we are already into February?!

As you may have noticed, at the start of the New Year we focused on getting our closets 2024-ready, so now there is no stress to getting dressed and thus, you look your best!

First, we focused on an easy Closet Cleanout. A quick cleanout because if it’s not quick, it likely won’t get done.

We looked at how to start building your Investment Wardrobe. In the end, putting the effort in now will save you money PLUS you’ll be left with a beautiful closet that will last you foryears.

But just like owning a car or picking up stuff in the rooms our house, we still need to do a quick closet “maintenance.”

Wouldn’t you agree that, once your closet gets out of control, it’s hard to get it back into shape? It just feels like an explosion happened and there’s no hope to make it organized and nice!

Well, there IS an easy fix to this, called the bi-weekly closet refresh. I promise it will take less than 15 minutes and it will make ALL the difference. Simply, every two weeks, do a closet reorganization.

So what exactly do you do?

  1. Re-colorgorize: Don’t overthink it just gather like colors together. If you start thinking too hard about where to put a striped shirt, quickly go with your gut and leave it. This is supposed to make your life easier!

  2. Re-categorize: Peices can get tossed to and fro when they are lightly worn or you're in a rush. Just be sure everything is in the right spot or else you might realize (months later - yikes!) that you never grabbed it because it was in the wrong spot!

  3. Anything worn and waiting for laundry, toss it: If you have that gently worn piece and you're just not reaching for it anytime soon - just toss it in the wash so it doesn’t linger. This way everything stays categorized, too!

  4. Make mental notes of the pieces you keep bypassing. Why? Maybe it’s time to donate them. This will help you focus on what you love wearing too, thus helping you shop with a more informed mindset!

Et voila! Quick, easy and (I think) quite fun! Happy Refreshing!

Question: What’s one thing YOU do to keep your closet tidy?
