Monaco + Grace Kelly = Inspiration

To build a stylish wardrobe suited for your lifestyle, you must start with some inspiration. It’s important to have an idea of the “Look” you’re aiming to create.

An easy place to start is  thinking of a style icon, or really just anyone, that impresses you as particularly fashionable and inspirational. They resonate with je ne sais quoi.

For many women, that  is… Grace Kelly!!!

This past weekend, I attended Mass where she is buried and was able to go inside the very room where her legal wedding took place.

Here are some photos of the personal palace chapel, the cathedral, Monaco and the room where she took her legal royal wedding ceremony.

After soaking all that up – where she had lived and where she still leaves a lasting impression on people – it got me thinking

What was it about Grace Kelly that made her the style icon she was and has remained???

When we look at photos of her gorgeous ball gowns and white gloves, we may wonder, what is it about HER look that we can invest into OUR wardrobe?

Well, when you break it down to its basic elements, there really are a lot of options and it only takes a few pieces to attain a chic look that makes it easier to get dressed and feel great.

Let's run through them shall we? Tell me below if  I’ve missed anything!

  1. Living in Monaco, she obviously embraced the “coastal white” ensemble.

  2. Good sunglasses can jazz up any signature look.

  3. The espadrille was not forgotten from her wardrobe as comfy and appropriate for warm weather (I’ve used these for casual times, but what I love even more is how they are the perfect water shoe and excellent for pebbly beaches).

  4. A great handbag! She used a handbag to discreetly shield her pregnancy in such a stylish way that Hermès renamed its bag, The Kelly.

  5. She understood the elegance of a flowy trouser pant. This one is such an easy, practical and elegant way to wear pants that, if you really don’t like jeans, itonly takes pairing it with the simplest of cotton T-shirts to pull off a great Look!

Here are some pieces I think you’ll enjoy, inspired by  Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco:

Stuart Weitzman - can’t recommend this brand enough!

A stiped boatneck in ivory tones - parfait!

Nordstrom Double Pleat High Waist Pant

Banana Republic Factory - such a great season they are having!

Kate Spade - such a great handbag to have for years!

Question: What looks do YOU think we can replicate?
