Jumpsuits to Jump For!

As we head into August, perhaps you’re getting a little fatigued with your Summer options. Sound familiar, right???

Well, over on my Instagram account, I asked what would YOU like me to write about. And your answer was… Jumpsuits!

Jumpsuits are perfect options for the end of Summer and beginning of Fall. It’s something that is probably already in your closet (and if not, fear not, you will be able to shop below!).

I LOVE a jumpsuit for Summer travel. Why? Well, it’s a top and bottom that you can remove from your suitcase (more room - woohoo!). It looks polished AND it is so comfortable around the waist - which is just perfect on a long flight or car ride.

Another benefit with jumpsuits is that they are SO great to layer. Now in the Summer, you can bop around all day in them with a sneaker, go to dinner in them with a block heel sandal, or polish the look with a nice mule or loafer. Whether it’s a cardigan, denim jacket, blazer, or sweater tossed over the shoulders - there’s oodles of ways to make a jumpsuit appropriate for nearly every occasion.

I have been glued to mine since last Summer. You can see how I’ve styled it below.

Okay, I understand that jumpsuits can often seem like a daunting purchase (maybe ‘adventurous’ is a better word). So let’s run through a few shopping tips.

  1. Which color will pair best with the layers – jackets, cardigans, blazers – you’ll be adding to it?

  2. How fitted do you want it along the waistline? You’ll have options from very fitted to very loose so try both to see which works better with your body type.

  3. Don’t rule one out if there is only one thing wrong with it. Jumpsuits can be tricky to fit perfectly in store. Don’t be afraid to use a tailor! I’ve turned one jumpsuit into a romper and raised the hemline on another to give it a cropped look. It’s worth it!!

  4. What types of shoes will you be wearing? What shoes do you travel in and wear out to dinner? If it passes these two tests then you’re on your way to the perfect jumpsuit.

  5. Do you need buttons in the front for nursing? Many jumpsuits have a button front so just because you’re nursing doesn’t mean you can’t join in on the stylish fun!
