Happy Fall ladies!! Can you believe we’re here?! We made it! We made it! We made it!!!

Fall brings SUCH rejuvenation -- I love it! And it particularly brings rejuvenation to… my wardrobe! I so enjoy pulling out all of my chilly-weather clothes from storage. It’s like shopping without spending money -- amazing!

Now, a couple of weeks ago we covered one of the Fall trends, the knee high boot.  While that trend’s comeback was a shock to many, today’s trend is less so. However, that doesn’t make it boring - it’s a classic! And with the right styling, we can make it feel fresh, current and fun.

Our second trend we’re covering this Fall is… PLAID!

Now before we think, “wah-wahhhhh… been there done that,” I want to give you some tips to make it exciting for you. You can make the plaid you already own feel new (now who doesn’t love that?!).

So, here are FIVE TIPS TO FRESHEN UP YOUR PLAID:

  1. Contrast it with feminine details to downplay feeling masculine or androgynous

  2. Combine it with modern cuts, details or hardware to keep it from feeling dated or dowdy

  3. Go bold and innovative- try  an oversized statement (for example, a blown up plaid in a coat or dress)

  4. Try it in unique places like ia shoe or color blocking on a tote bag

  5. Pair it with luxe textures to counter  feeling too “Catholic school uniform-ish”

Now, for those of you that need to shop for some plaid, I’ve chosen a few options I hope will dazzle you:

Nina Leonard Plaid Sweater Dress

Cole Haan Notch Collar Coat

TopShop Plaid Blazer

BB Dakota Boyfriend Blazer

Barbour Tartan Plaid

Halogen Plaid Brushed Coat

Pendleton Aurora Plaid Coat

Veronica Beard Isley Plaid Pant

Maison Magriela Micro 5AC Tartan Print Leather Shoulder Bag

I hope this sparks just the right autumnal inspo you needed today!

Question: How do YOU wear plaid?
