Immaculate Mary, Your Praises We Sing (and Style)!
A VERY HAPPY Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Who is PUMPED?!
If you’ve been reading my style tips for awhile, you KNOW I love some good festive color on a Catholic feast day. Just as we jazz up the house and spice up our celebratory menus, why not festivize up (that’s a word, right?!) our STYLE, too!
How do we do that?
GO BLUE!
In an article by Aleteia, I learned some fascinating facts.
Did you know... that blue is not just some random color we picked for Mary? In the Old Testament, the Israelites were told to wear blue tassels to remind them of God’s Commandments. Also, the Levites were told to cover the Arc of the Covenant with blue cloth.
And get this… Mary is the NEW Arc of the Covenant, who often appears with BLUE cloth!! Now how cool is that?!
But THEN… it goes on to say that the Levites were told to cover the tables where they eat their bread with …. (yes, you guessed it…) blue cloth.
Mary is the one who bore The Eternal Bread in her womb! Isn’t that WILD!!!?!!!?!
So this upcoming December 8, if you choose blue to honor Mary, here are a few fun options I would like to suggest or for you to be inspired:
Have a beautiful Solemnity and Happy Advent!
Question: What special thing do you do (besides Mass) to celebrate the Immaculate Conception?
