Here’s Why an LBD is the latest Travel Go-To Dress
This passed week, my husband, Brice, and I have been traveling internationally. Our trip is about 2 weeks long because we’re hopping across the United States and the United Kingdom to attend the weddings of close friends. We are passing through different cities, on and off planes, trains, and who knows what.
Though when traveling, you always want to drag a heavy suitcase behind you, so you want to pack light while still having the flexibility to wear outfits for two weeks and two weddings.
And I ALSO needed versatility with the selected pieces that I was bringing. It would be a total waste of space if I couldn’t transition the dress I wore to a wedding for everyday wear around London. Plus, in DC it is warm and sunny. London cool and rain. And Newcastle, COLD and rain.
How could I pack for the weather changes AND the difference in fashion?! English weddings are a bit different than American weddings. (ps - keep an eye on my instagram account for the scoop this weekend)
So, naturally, I immediately turned to the LBD, because… it’s always the classiest, chicest, most versatile piece in your closet.
I have a Betsey Johnson ‘fit and flare’ dress that is my go-to. I can’t recommend enough, buying quality pieces. This dress will last you much longer AND when you invest a little more for a piece, you will naturally REALLY like it.
As an alternative, I also brought a Vera Wang LBD, that’s a knit fabric- which makes it super comfortable to travel.
Here are a few fantastic LBD’s that I recommend for your closet:
So, you ask, how am I getting the MOST of my LBD’s? I’m delighted you ask! It’s all about what accessories you pair with the dress. As alway, classic, timeless, casual essentials came in for the win.
During the day, I paired the dress with my leather jacket (chanel style collar and puffed sleeves for a more feminine vibe), along with white sneakers (that have a little rose gold detail - a color I can always turn to - check out this article I want if you want to learn more about what colors work best for you).
Now, I know what you might be ASKING… “can I really pull this off at ANY age?” The answer is, “Yes!” It’s true. And if you don’t believe me, send me an email. I’ll be delighted to help you mix and match to find your perfect LBD look.
If you feel the sneakers are too bold for, you can opt for a comfortable mule slide (which I wore, as well).
Here I am!
I’ve chosen a few pieces below that are great options to help you transition your LBD.
Then, to dress it up a bit… simply remove the jacket and slip on some wedges! Voila!
